Humana Medicare Advantage Plans 2012
Private insurance providers such as Humana, must be approved by Medicare if they want to offer Medicare advantage plans. While each insurance company is free to set its own rules, in order to protect the consumer, all must abide by the guidelines set by the government. One of the requirements is that Medicare advantage plans must provide all benefits that are covered by original Medicare. Good news is – most plans, like Humana Medicare Advantage Plans, offer many more benefits beyond this ‘basic’ coverage!
In 2012, Humana is offering different kinds of Medicare Advantage plans, whether you are just looking for basic coverage or you need more benefits. Many Humana Medicare Advantage plans include prescription drug coverage or fitness and wellness programs.
The HumanaChoice(PPO)® for example is a Medicare Advantage Perferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan. (PPO) plans are Preferred Provider Organization plans with a broad network of healthcare providers to choose from. There are also Humana Gold Choice® plans which are Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) plans. With this kind fo plan, you can see almost any doctor you choose, as long as the provider accepts Humana’s terms and conditions of payment. Most Humana Gold Choice Private Fee-for-Service plans combine all the benefits of Original Medicare, prescription drug coverage and many extras into one plan. Humana also offers the Humana Gold Plus® (HMO) plan at affordable, fixed costs with care coordinated through a network of primary care physicians – the limitation with this plan is that you must receive all routine care from one of the plan providers.
Humana Medicare Advantage Plans are available to anyone enrolled in both Part A and Part B of Medicare, either through age or disability. Shopping for an appropriate and cost-effective Medicare advantage plan can be a daunting experience. There are many choices but not all options are suitable for everyone. One of the biggest selling points for Humana Medicare Advantage Plans is their low cost. However, you should make sure to compare benefits and plans from different insurance companies before you decide, which plan is best for you.
